Currently, over 500 people a year must travel from Shetland to Aberdeen for CAT scans. This website was designed as a base point for the appeal to raise £1 million GBP to provide Shetland’s NHS with a local CAT Scanner.

The appeal aims to provide equipment, building, training and running costs as well as providing a locally run CAT scanner as part of NHS Shetland’s forward plan. Funding the project now, instead of in a few years when it would be affordable to the NHS meant money being diverted from other vital health services. The operational costs of the scanner is to be transferred to the Health Board after 2 years.

The website is updatable by the individuals involved easily from a PHP / MySQL based Content Management System.

The CATS Shetland appeal suceeded in raising the required funding as well as the profile of Shetland. This site was then ‘clooed up’ (Shetland dialect for wound down) and removed from public view.
