about yadUK

yadUK, created by John Smith - a Shetlander living and working in the big smoke of Edinburgh, Scotland (UK), aims to provide clients with high impact and highly functional Internet/Intranet sites,  web based applications and standalone database applications.

From my time spent in maintaining and developing SQL relational databases I returned to education achieving a PostGraduate Diploma in Information Systems, from Napier University, Edinburgh. Since then I continued to work in the development of database systems and Intranet based applications in the Corporate sector of both the Bank of Scotland and the Royal Bank of Scotland. Developments have been within the Corporate Financial Management Information (MI) / Business Intelligence (BI) arena.

yadUK has also been expanded into Internet hosting solutions firm yadUKHosting due to the restrictive hosting packages I found other companies offering. yadUKHosting is now a popular solution for SME across the UK and has given me great pleasure in managing Linux / apache in a production environment in what is a fast paced and highly changeable sector!

I am as happy working either in a Microsoft or Linux centric environment and work freelance not only on Internet/Intranet related developments, but also back-end/back-office database work too.

I have a working knowledge of:

I have a particular interest in client-side development utilising technologies such as JavaScript / XML / XSLT.

Do get in contact even if it's just for a chat. Initial consultations cost nothing!
