HBOS: Vehicle Finance Intranet
The Intranet site was upgraded to adhere to XHTML Strict markup and to use CSS purely for its styling. Upgrade was inclusive of several self-built dynamic web-based applications.
Employed by HBOS: Vehicle Finance as Systems Analyst, I took over the role of Lead Intranet Developer: inclusive of server management, and moved towards upgrading their flat HTML based Intranet site into a dynamic ASP: VBScript based portal to pull in the three distinct geographical areas making up Vehicle Finance: Edinburgh, Chester, Bushey.
Due to server restrictions, and cross domain users, I was unable to use a standard database format such as MS Access or MS SQL for a backend. Instead I opted for my own built flatfile XML based relational database.
As part of the upgrade an XML/JavaScript/ASP, based dynamic phonebook was produced to aide communication between the three geographical sites. A standalone MS Access “phonebook repository” exports XML for the Intranet when an entry is added/updated. This database extended to be the central Vehicle Finance Human Resources Repository, and again upgraded to also incorporate all Financial Services Authority details.
Other own built web applications to streamline business processes included a News CMS, and a Systems self-help tool (SOS) as well as an Online Systems Status tool.
Further projects integrated into the Intranet included business areas KPI (Key Performance Indicators) being updated direct to the Intranet from each core system / department through the use of Business Objects reporting software and MS Acess databases to export pertinant data into XML schema to be fed into Macromedia Flash graphic reporting .swf files.

Edinburgh Flat - 2006
Another reboot! ;) The original developed in 2004 was a simple static information based site to aid renting out an Edinburgh based flat during the summer months. Now upgraded to a fully dynamic PHP CMS with XHTML 1.0 Strict markup utilising CSS entirely for styling whilst incorporating a brand new design.

yadUKHosting Reboot - 2006
After 2 years it was time to "reboot" the yadUKHosting website! Though the servers have been upgraded twice since yadUKHosting.co.uk came online on 5th April 2004 the site sadly had taken a back seat.
Lerwick Boating Club - 2006
The Lerwick Boating Club has over the last 25 years changed from the days when it only organised summer sailing races and a regatta in Shetland. Today, in addition they have yacht races, dinghy races, a yoal team and lots of training sessions for beginners and junior members.

CATS Shetland Appeal - 2006
Currently, over 500 people a year must travel from Shetland to Aberdeen for CAT scans. This website was designed as a base point for the appeal to raise £1 million GBP to provide Shetland's NHS with a local CAT Scanner.
Puffin Music - 2003
Shetland ceildih band “Da Fustra” and Puffin Music distributers required a site to coincide with the release of their latest cd/dvd/video.
Music Video - 2002
As part of my Posgraduate Diploma in Information Systems Web Development module I had to create a site to – “Market a range of DVDs, which must be compatible with 90% of all users of the web”. 90% referring to users disabilities and not only users hardware / software setups.
The Camera Centre Online - 2002
The Camera Centre, a locally owned business in Shetland. Originally a static information based site – the interest in cameras, camcorders etc. spurned a need for a fully updateable e-commerce site.
